Electric bicycles with a front wheel drive are generally cheaper than a middle or rear wheel engine. Furthermore, you can combine a front wheel motor with all gear systems. A big advantage is that the front wheel drive immediately supports your ride, no matter which gear you are in.
With the front wheel drive, however, chances are greater to slip in curves due to the front pull. Because of the engine, the front wheel is also somewhat heavier to lift and the tire is more difficult to change than with a mid drive, for example. The front wheel engine is also more difficult to combine with a torque sensor because it is not integrated in the engine itself.
